The Night’s Sky
Nightfall sweeps in–
a dark blanket
covering the entire sky
studded with a million stars
tiny dots that brighten up the night
Some indistinguishable
Others congregate in clusters
all creating the background
for the moon to take center stage
She comes in slowly
glowing like a disc
wrapped around in silver scales
showing first a bit of herself
Reminiscent of a mother
coming to tuck you in at night
to sing to you
a soft and sweet lullaby
She creates the perfect ambiance
for the most restful sleep
and in a matter of hours
she will begin her retreat
Once the light of dawn arrives
I bid her goodbye
until we both meet again
when darkness consumes the night’s sky.
